We are a small and happy team of qualified wine nuts who have made Languedoc-Roussillon our home. Our passion for the region, its wines, food, culture and history are the reason we are here and we want to share this with you. We are personable, engaging and fun people to spend the day with and our knowledge will give you a fascinating and deeply enjoyable tour you will remember for a long time.

All our CLASSIC TOURS are English spoken and we promise no jargon just fun and laughter as well as an in-depth understanding of the wines delivered in a clear and easy to understand way. Our team comprises of English, French, Dutch, Catalan and Spanish speakers so if you prefer one of these languages we can create a PRIVATE & PRESTIGE just for you. Whichever language you choose we promise you ‘No Wine Snobbery’..!

Wendy GedneyI started Vin en Vacances in 2009 after teaching the subject of wine in the UK for a number of years. I was never someone who took tours, I wanted to discover it all for myself and the idea of joining a group and following each other like sheep never appealed to me. Then one day whilst in Brittany I joined a tour of Mont Saint-Michel and was blown away with the experience.  The guide was passionate about Saint-Michel, was deeply knowledgeable and brought the place and the story alive. She gave us something we could not have created for ourselves and that is what my team at Vin en Vacances will do for you.

My love for the region and the wines began 20 years ago and since then I have seen great change as the Languedoc-Roussillon winemakers undertook a quality revolution. By watching and listening and becoming part of the region I too have learnt a great deal and I would love to share this with you. I enjoy taking people off the beaten track to hidden vineyards to discover the passion and individuality that these extraordinary wine makers put into their wines.

KateKate Wardell is a hospitality graduate and dedicated foodie who loves to combine this passion with her other great love, wine. Along with the rest of the team she shares a great respect for the wine makers of the Languedoc-Roussillon and the wines they produce. Laughter is the name of the game with Kate; and she will delight in sharing her food & wine pairing ideas with you too.

 

MarcelMarcel van Baalen (Dutch by origin) gained his depth of knowledge over a career of more than 25 years in the wine business. Now he is living his dream here in ‘his’ Languedoc as team member of Vin en Vacances. He is great fun to be with and his down to earth approach of wine will ensure you have a deeply enjoyable vineyard tour.

 

 

Carlos Lluch was born and raised in Barcelona and educated in French and English.  With his natural Latin charm and a gift for languages, he was always destined to be a tour guide.  Now living in Lagrasse, he delights in sharing his knowledge of the village and the Corbières.  He is very well integrated in the local wine-making community and having worked at Château Ollieux Romanis, one of the most prestigious vineyards in the region, a tour with Carlos is always an enriching experience, full of fun facts and interesting anecdotes.

Gregg Meesters traded his life in the bustling city of Antwerp (the self-declared capital of the world) for the slightly more rural Capestang.  With his wife and kids, he bought a property in the middle of the vineyards and together with the growing of the vines, so grew his love for wine. It’s been over 4 years now since he turned from wine-drinker in to wine-enthusiast and trained as a sommelier. He also recently passed his WSET exam and most importantly has gained the Languedoc-Roussillon Masters certificate. He is more than happy to share with you his love for the regions good food, good weather and of course it’s marvellous wines.

 

Petra“Home Made by Petra” is our preferred catering company and Petra’s Vineyard Picnic are a delight not to be missed. This picnic is no ‘ham sandwich’ as you will tuck into a 4 course lunch made from local fresh and often organic ingredients accompanied by local wine. All ‘faît maison’ of course!
