Girona & Castel Gala Dalí
Girona is a peaceful town steeped in history. Its wealth in medieval times produced many fine Romanesque and Gothic buildings that have survived repeated attacks and sieges. Today they combine with fine examples of Modernism, a great eating scene and art and music festivals. The city’s artistic heritage has been preserved in the numerous monuments that have survived until today, with its beautiful streets and porticoed squares. We will visit the beautiful baroque cathedral with its intricate stonework and elegant cloisters, along with the Jewish Quarter where we will visit the fascinating Museu d’Història dels Jueus, housed in a 15th-century synagogue. For lunch we will indulge in some typical Catalan cuisine accompanied by wine from this region. After lunch we visit The Castle of Púbol just outside Girona. It was the home to surrealist painter Salvador Dalí and his wife Gala and is a small, intimate and interesting museum.
