Some of the finest Roussillon wines are grown at the foot of these mountains and we will enjoy a morning visit to one of the finest producers where you will learn how the wines are grown and made. This is followed by a delicious tasting before we head off to lunch at one of our favourite restaurants.
Lunch on a Vin en Vacances tour is always a very special meal and today’s tour is no exception and you will enjoy a 3 course lunch accompanied by local wines.
After lunch we take you to visit Castelnou, a beautiful village perched high on a hill and here you will have the chance to walk the tiny lanes and have a little free time before our last stop of the day which is at an olive farm. The visit will include the olive press where you learn how the olives are processed to make delicious Roussillon oil and this is followed by a tasting of both olives and oils.
Sundays – The itinerary is the same as above but as the olive farm is closed on this day we can include a visit to Caves Byrrh where they still make the aromatised wine-based apéritif that was created in 1866 or we can take you to Collioure where the olive farm has a shop and you can taste the olives and oils there. If your sailing is late enough we might have time to do both.
The tours are private just for you and any travelling companions you may have. Many of our Cruise Ship clients wish to spread the cost of the tour and so ask other passengers to join them by advertising the tour on the ships forum called Cruise Critic’s Roll Call. The maximum number of people we can take is 8 and here are the prices:
